The truth, truth and nothing but the truth

Is internet shaping or killing journalism? The argument surfaces that if netizens make their very own reports, it actually kills the journalism industry. Studies have shown that journalists are somewhat threatened by the existence of internet journalism. They feel they have lost their monopoly in giving the truthful news. Nonetheless, maybe this is their retribution for using different connotations to words in implying the right and wrong party etc. Media effects, they intensify certain news. Well, now they have competition.

Limitations exist, as we all know. If there's something that we cant challenge, is credibility. Well, if netizens continue to publish real time news, this credibility of proper journalists will actually decrease. So, we have our answer for how internet, in my opinion will shape journalism. *Smiles*

Internet And politics

I was watching how McCain said he didn't know how to use the Internet. I thunk it was at this point that Obama definitely had the upperhand over him. Obama basically used social networking and other campaigns online and in my opinion that won him presidency. Apart from that, Obama concentrated on doing the nation good and implementing new policies to improve on the situation left by George Bush. This is contrary to how McCain wanted the public to look at obama's flaws.

In singapore however, there is a gov site that the Singapore government provides for it's people and for foreigners to know about the services available in this country. That I feel is a good way of reach to the people. Well, just my two cents worth.

Game Time!

Yes it is game time. I must admit, among most of the guys in class or UB, I am the least gamed. Above is the only game that I would be addicted to, should I own a PS3 or an XBox360. I'm not really interested in the RPG stuff as I think it may take away too much of real time, outside.

Which brings me to my controversial point that I want to raise. Gaming is fun, but RPGs and stuff exert violent influence on people outside. Its true. Look at the university shooting in the US few years back. I prefer sports cos I mean, its pretty harmless right? And taking away important communication time with family and peers, may make one actually be really socially inept. I sound very cliche, but communication to me is extremely important. I hate it when I'm sitting down on a table and people are not aware of non verbal cues and body language making situations be really awkward. Blame gaming! But not the sports part ok? :)

Anyhow, I really wonder how the future of gaming would be. Right now the graphics already seem oh so real. Next up, Microsoft is coming up with the non-controlled new Xbox. In the future? Would we be in the games ourselves? Goodness. That's scary.

Lock your PCs people

I came across this pic recently and it hit me to ponder, if there were to be any form of threats from the internet what software would really help me.

To be honest, I have to give to AVG and McAfee, both on my laptops giving constant updates and warning of threats. However, I do have CCleaner and it clears all the cookies and unnecessary data or history but I find that actually the most effective cos after having that, everything seemed fine in my lappy. Hmm, I wonder.

GOOG-NESS ME

Never did I knew. Instead of entering in the top right corner of your firefox browser for dictionary.com, one could actually just type in the meaning immediately instead.

Math problems? No problem. Enter 1*9 for example, and eureka.

I ain't no math student so I wouldn't know if I actually did enter some funny numbers with over the top formulas, I could actually get my answer.

Wow. Honestly, without a shadow of exaggeration, I did not know one could do all of this with Google.

Never did I knew huh. At least I think now that I know, I couldn't be classified as a laggard no more, right. :)
